Talk to an agent

A conversation is where you talk to an agent. This page describes the message box, attachments and what comes back at the end.

  1. Click Nouveau prompt (New prompt) (Ctrl+N), or the + button in the Conversations list.
  2. In Démarrer une conversation (Start a conversation), choose an agent, or Conversation libre (Free conversation) to talk to Pilot without a profile.
  3. Write your request. Enter sends, Shift+Enter starts a new line. Agrandir la saisie (Expand the message box) gives more room.

No call to the AI is made before you send. A conversation handles one request at a time. The square in place of the send button stops the work. You can prepare your next message in the meantime.

To correct a request, click Modifier (Edit) under your message, then Renvoyer (Resend). The message and everything after it in the conversation are replaced. Actions already carried out (files, UEFN, Meshy) are not undone.

Click +, drag the files onto the message box, paste them, or type /joindre (attach).

Type Formats What the agent receives
Images PNG, JPG, WebP The image, scaled down if it exceeds 1.5 MB or 2,048 px on a side, with a copy in Pilot/Attachments
Documents PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, CSV, JSON, YAML, XML, HTML, Verse, PY, JS, TS, TSX, RS, LOG The text. Beyond 40,000 characters, the beginning and the end, and the full file in Pilot/Attachments
Videos MP4, M4V, MOV, WebM, MKV From 4 to 10 extracted frames, about one every 5 seconds, without the sound
Others FBX, GLB, GLTF, OBJ, WAV, MP3, OGG, ZIP, TGA, EXR, HDR The path to its copy in Pilot/Attachments, not its contents

The limits of a single send:

  • 50 MB per file;
  • 24 attachments, a video counting as one for each of its frames;
  • 16 MB of images in total;
  • 100,000 characters of documents in total;
  • 2,000 pages per PDF.

A scanned PDF contains no readable text: attach an image of the page instead. Gemini CLI does not receive attached images. What you attach goes to the agent’s AI provider.

Type @, or click Mentionner un agent, outil ou Skill (Mention an agent, tool or Skill), then choose from the list: Agent · …, Skill · … or Outil · … (Tool · …). A mention makes the request more precise. It does not start any agent and adds no right. To make another agent work, go through the orchestrator or open a conversation with it.

The Verse, Interface, Modèle 3D (3D model), VFX, Level design and Image shortcuts insert the corresponding mention. A second click removes it. They only appear if the agent has the Skill or the tool concerned.

Type / at the start of the message for commands: /agent, /ask and /plan change the mode, /aide (help) reminds you of the shortcuts.

Links written in a request are read before starting: five at most, once per conversation, if the agent has the right to read the web. Local and private addresses are refused.

Ask for an image: it appears in the conversation and is saved in the project, under Pilot/Generated/. See Images. At the next step, the agent sees the images its tools produce, except with Gemini CLI.

Under the reply, each file produced shows its path, with Ouvrir dans Pilot (Open in Pilot) for a text or an image and Ouvrir le dossier (Open the folder). The Fichiers (Files) button, at the top of the conversation, browses the whole project folder.

When the main agent finishes, asks a question or reaches its limit, an À vous de jouer (Your turn) notification appears, a sound plays, and the taskbar icon flashes if Island Pilot is in the background. Ouvrir la conversation (Open the conversation) takes you back to it.

An action to approve and a failure each have their own sound and notification. To turn the sound off: Paramètres › Général (Settings › General), Notifications section, Son quand un agent s’arrête (Sound when an agent stops).
