Your data and backups
This page tells you where your data is, how to back it up and how to go back to a copy.

| Keys and session | The Windows vault |
The location is chosen automatically and cannot be changed. Open Paramètres › Général › Données (Settings › General › Data) to see its path and size, then Ouvrir le dossier (Open folder).
Automatic backups
Section titled “Automatic backups”Island Pilot copies its database at most once every 20 hours, without you having to do anything. It checks at launch, then every hour for as long as it stays open. The five most recent copies are kept. A copy is also made just before each update.
Create a backup by hand
Section titled “Create a backup by hand”- Open Paramètres › Général › Données.
- Click Créer une sauvegarde (Create a backup). You read Sauvegarde créée dans snapshots. (Backup created in snapshots.)
These copies are never deleted by themselves. Sort through them from time to time.
What a backup contains
Section titled “What a backup contains”A backup is a copy of the database: projects, conversations, images attached to messages, agents, settings, Map Trends.
The database is not encrypted. Your keys are not in it, but your conversations are: treat these files as personal documents.
Go back to a backup
Section titled “Go back to a backup”The app has no button for this. The procedure is done by hand, and it replaces everything that has changed in the database since that copy.
- Close the app: Paramètres › Général › Quitter Pilot et ses processus (Settings › General › Quit Pilot and its processes).
- Open
%USERPROFILE%\.island-pilotin File Explorer. - Move
island-pilot.dbto another folder, and, if they exist,island-pilot.db-walandisland-pilot.db-shm. Do not delete them: they will let you go back. - In
backupsorsnapshots, choose a copy according to its modification date. - Copy it into
%USERPROFILE%\.island-pilotand rename itisland-pilot.db. - Relaunch the app.
The files of the island do not go back, though: the database and the project may therefore no longer match. If in doubt, write to us before starting.
A copy made by a more recent version of the app may be refused, with Cette base a été créée par une version plus récente d’Island Pilot. (This database was created by a newer version of Island Pilot.)
Check the database
Section titled “Check the database”In Paramètres › Général › Données, click Vérifier l’intégrité (Check integrity). Intégrité : ok (Integrity: ok) means the database is healthy. Otherwise, go back to a backup, or write to us.
What is deleted, and when
Section titled “What is deleted, and when”- Deleting a conversation deletes its images from the database, but not what it produced in the project. Backups already made keep these images for as long as they exist.
- Deleting a project removes its conversations, tasks, agents and settings. Its files stay on the disk, and Map Trends stays intact.
- The technical log is limited to the last 24 hours. It contains no conversations, no tool arguments and no secrets.
