Blender
Island Pilot links your agents to Blender through an add-on installed in Blender: they read your scene and run Python scripts in it. This page takes you to a tested connection and sets out its limits.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Blender 5.1 or later, opened at least once on this PC.
- Island Pilot launched from the Start menu or a Windows terminal, not from another application. Otherwise, the add-on cannot reach Blender. Paramètres › Diagnostic (Settings › Diagnostic) flags this.
The add-on
Section titled “The add-on”You have nothing to download. Each time it starts, Island Pilot installs the Blender Lab MCP add-on, supplied with the app, into every version 5.1 or later that it finds in %APPDATA%\Blender Foundation\Blender.
If you install Blender after Island Pilot, open Blender once, then relaunch Island Pilot.
The add-on requires authentication: without the key kept in the Windows vault, Island Pilot sends no script and the add-on accepts none. If you modify its files, they are kept, but the add-on turns itself off when Blender starts.
Connect Blender
Section titled “Connect Blender”- Open Connexions (Connections) in the sidebar: the Store & connexions (Store & connections) page appears.
- On the Blender card, click Voir la fiche (View the details page), then open Configuration.
- Check that Activer cette connexion (Turn on this connection) is ticked.
- After the first installation, save your scene and restart Blender.
- In Blender, open Edit → Preferences → System and allow Online Access if Blender asks.
- In Preferences → Add-ons, check that MCP (Blender Lab) is turned on.
- Go back to the details page and click Tester et découvrir (Test and discover). The Outils (Tools) tab opens and shows your version, for example “Blender 5.2 · connecté” (Blender 5.2 · connected).
The specialists concerned receive Blender according to your 3D choice. For another profile, use Accès des agents › Choisir les agents autorisés (Agent access › Choose the authorised agents), in the Aperçu (Overview) and Outils tabs of the details page.
What the agent can do
Section titled “What the agent can do”- Read Blender’s version and the open file.
- Inspect the first 500 objects in the scene: name, type, position and dimensions.
- Run a Python script in Blender, in Agent mode: model, texture, rig, animate, export a file, render a preview.
The agent does not see Blender’s window. It renders a preview, saves it in Pilot/Generated/<task id>/ and looks at it at the next step, except with Gemini, which does not receive these images. You can also see it in the conversation.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- No isolation. The script runs inside Blender, with no isolation from the system. To approve each script before it runs, tick Demander confirmation avant chaque modification (Ask for confirmation before each change) in Configuration, then click Enregistrer (Save).
- No automatic saving. The agent saves the
.blendfile only if you ask it to. A script that ran for too long has already left Blender on the default scene, and the unsaved work was lost. Ask for a save before any long job. - Time limit. A call has 120 seconds to respond. Set this time from 5 to 600 seconds in Permissions et identité › Délai maximum (secondes) (Permissions and identity › Maximum delay (seconds)). After this delay, the result is unknown and the script may still be running in Blender: have the scene inspected before you run it again.
- One agent at a time. The first agent to change the scene reserves it until the end of its mission. See Several agents in the editor.
- No automatic import. Exporting a file does not put it in your island. Importing into UEFN is a separate step, and Assets keeps the two apart.
