Learned skills

When an agent discovers and verifies a method in your project (a sequence of tools, the exact format of a parameter, a workaround after a failure), it saves it to a file. The following missions start from that method instead of rediscovering it.

Each learned skill is a file in your island’s folder:

Pilot/Skills/<nom-de-la-competence>/SKILL.md

Open it from the Content panel, in Pilot, then Skills. It does not appear on the Skills page.

The file contains a description, the method and a Provenance section: the agent, the model and the run it came from. A learned skill applies to this project only. As it is a plain file, it stays in your folder even if you delete the project in Island Pilot.

  • They save them. Only in Agent mode, and if the profile has the Enregistrer les méthodes apprises (Save learned methods) switch, in the Outils (Tools) tab of its page. No approval is asked of you. The file appears as a link in the conversation.
  • They find them. At the start of a mission, an agent that has Charger les Skills (Load Skills) receives the list of the project’s learned skills, 40 at most, with their description. It loads those that concern its task.
  • They update them. A method that changes keeps the same folder name, instead of adding a copy. A learned skill is 16,000 characters at most.
  • Correct. Open the file, edit it, then click Proposer la modification (Propose the change). An agent can also do it at your request.
  • Delete. Island Pilot’s file tree has no delete command: delete the skill’s folder in Windows File Explorer.
  • Stop saving. For a profile to stop saving anything, turn off Enregistrer les méthodes apprises.
  1. Open Outils UEFN › Skills (UEFN tools › Skills).
  2. Click Importer un dossier (Import a folder).
  3. Choose the folder of a learned skill, or Pilot/Skills to take them all.
  4. Tick the imported Skill in the profiles that should use it.

It then becomes an ordinary Skill, shared by all your projects, and is no longer linked to the original file.

  • Not proof. A learned skill describes what worked at a given moment. The agent must reconfirm it against the current state, because UEFN and your island change.
  • Not a permission. It gives the agent no right and no tool.
  • Not private text. A loaded learned skill goes to the agent’s AI provider, like any file it reads. The agent must not put any secret in it, but re-read it if in doubt.

The UEFN field guide pack, supplied with Island Pilot, plays a similar role for fixes that hold on all islands.
