Interface sounds

The Sons (Sounds) tab of UI Design is for choosing and adjusting the sounds of your buttons and windows. Each sound becomes a WAV file that the UI Engineer sends to UEFN.

  1. Open UI Design.
  2. Open the Sons tab.
  3. Click Ajouter un son (Add a sound) to open the library, or Importer un WAV (Import a WAV) to use your own.
  4. In the library, listen to the sounds, filtering by family if needed.
  5. Click Ajouter (Add) next to the one you like.

The library contains 53 sounds created for Island Pilot, in eight families: Clics (Clicks), Survol (Hover), Validation, Erreurs (Errors), Navigation, Notifications, Récompenses (Rewards) and Jeu (Game).

An imported WAV can be 32 MB at most. Only WAV files are accepted.

Select the sound in Sons du projet (Project sounds). Each change is saved automatically: there is no button to click. Double-clicking a slider restores its default value, and Réinitialiser (Reset) removes all adjustments and effects.

Setting Range
Hauteur (Pitch) -12 to +12 semitones
Timbre -100 to +100%
Longueur (Length) 0.5× to 2×
Espace (Space) -100 to +100%
Impact -100 to +100%
Volume -24 to +6 dB

An imported WAV can be shortened, not lengthened.

With Ajouter, in Effets (Effects), you can also combine Filtre (Filter), Chorus, Écho (Echo), Réverbération (Reverb) and Lo-fi.

  1. Select a button or a window on the canvas.
  2. Open Propriétés › Sons (Properties › Sounds).
  3. Choose a sound, or Ajouter depuis la bibliothèque… (Add from the library…). The chosen sound plays.
Element Moments
Button, icon button Survol, Appui (Press), Clic (Click)
Counter with a purchase button Survol, Appui, Clic of the + button
Window Ouverture (Opening), and Survol, Appui, Clic of its built-in close button

To hear everything in context, turn on Lire les animations (Play animations) in the canvas toolbar, then hover over or click the buttons.

Island Pilot exports each sound as a 16-bit WAV to Pilot/UI Design/Sounds/S_<Nom>.wav. The export happens while the UI Design tab is open. The Enregistré automatiquement (Saved automatically) indicator confirms it. Your original WAV files stay in Pilot/UI Design/Sounds/Sources.

When building the screen, the UI Engineer imports the sounds used into /<Projet>/UI/Sounds, then connects them.

  • A button’s sounds are set on its widget’s style.
  • A window’s opening sound is played by Verse, with an Audio Player device. That code is part of the Verse you have to write.

Right-click the sound, then Supprimer… (Delete…). The sound and its WAV file are removed from the project, and the buttons that used it no longer have that sound. A sound already imported into UEFN stays in place.
